Lesbian Health in Women's Hands
We aim to assist lesbians in the Illawarra to participate in their community and provide lesbians with resources for improving their health and well-being.
The centre provides lesbian safe space and encourages lesbians to access all of our services, including:
- Free counselling for lesbians and bisexual women.
- Appointments are necessary and can be made by ringing Reception on 4255 6800.
- Support and information is available: there is a small library with a Lesbian section, a Lesbian noticeboard, Lesbians on the Loose magazine available free, and a compilation of lesbian health research.
- Pap smears, breast checks, STI checks and cervical vaccinations with our female doctor and our Clinical Nurse Specialist. All medical services are bulk-billed.
- Information about menopause.
- Complementary therapies: Reflexology, Angelic Reiki, Massage and Aromatherapy massage, Naturopathy, and Homeopathy, which is available free to any woman with a health care card, and a small charge for any medicines.
- Advice and referral for women escaping violence.
- Groups to increase self-esteem or for relaxation.
- Activities such as Tai Chi, Drumming, Meditation and Bellydancing.
On Thursdays between 2-3pm there is a no-appointment drop-in medical clinic. Short appointments only. Not for new clients.
